Cloud Computing

Cloud computing is a new phenomenon in the Computing Industry. This enables you to have access to vital aspects of a particular software or program online without the software being installed on your computer. With cloud computing, you eliminate those headaches because you’re not managing hardware and software—that’s the responsibility of an experienced software vendor. The shared infrastructure means it works like a utility: You only pay for what you need, upgrades are automatic, and scaling up or down is easy.
I remember when my
company was to install a new program in March 2012. The operators (the software company) gave us two options. Either install it on our servers or install it for us on their own servers while we access it just like facebook or yahoomail.
Cloud-based apps can be up and running in days or weeks, and they cost less. With a cloud app, you just open a browser, log in, customize the app, and start using it.
Businesses are running all kinds of apps in the cloud in fields like customer relationship management (CRM), HR, accounting, and so many other areas. Some of the world’s largest companies moved their applications to the clouds with reputable companies after rigorously testing the security and reliability of our infrastructure.
Everybody is sure that cloud computing is key to the future of IT. The idea that businesses should not be spending effort and money on installing and maintaining complex hardware and applications, when a specialist can supply those same services on a pay-as- you-go basis. Businesses do not generally generate their own power – utilities are bought when needed. In the same way, the argument runs, essential IT services can be managed better externally. There is also the issue of Multi-tenancy Cloud-hosted applications where multiple customers share a single application, even though they only have access to their own data. Salesforce.com is an example. Multi- tenancy is the most cost-effective form of cloud computing, since the software itself is shared.
Other Advantages of Cloud Computing are:
*Virtualisation-Emulating computer hardware in software, so that one or more emulated computers can run simultaneously on a single physical computer.
*It is Green- Cloud computing goes some way towards solving a problem called under- utilisation, where servers run constantly with little computing load, wasting money and power. Service providers use virtualisation and other techniques to make full use of their hardware.
Cloud Computing also has a major disadvantage Cloud computing has real benefits, but there are also reasons for caution. Risks include loss of service if your provider has downtime or goes out of business, regulatory problems when personal data is stored internationally, security concerns when users lose control of how their data is protected,
