A beautiful and intelligent Nigerian young woman has won the World's most beautiful womans pageant that was held in Indonesia. Her name is Obabiyi Aishah Ajibola, and she is just 21 years old. The competition is an answer to the Miss World yearly contest. Miss Muslimah contestants are required to wearhijab in their daily lives. They were judged on how well they recited Koranic verses and on their views on Islam and the modern world.
Miss Muslimah organisers say that the contest promotes an alternative, more modest, idea of beauty.
This is the first year Muslimah has accepted international contestants and is the third time it has been held since 2011.
Obabiyi Aishah Ajibola competed with 19 other women. When she was announced as the winner, Obabiyi knelt down and prayed, then wept as she recited a Koranic verse. She took home the grand prize, which included $2,000 in prize money and a trip to Mecca and India.
This is an example of what Nigerians should be known for. When you travel outside the shores of this country, make sure you protect and promote our reputation because "a good name is better than silver and gold". All Hail the QUEEN.
